Diploma in Ophthlamic Techniques


Eligibility
  1. Admission to the course will be made once a year. The candidate should have passed class XII or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, subjects with an aggregate of 45% marks. If the candidate has also passed in Mathematics besides the above subjects, it will be considered as an additional qualification and preference will be given to such candidates.
  2. Candidates who have passed 10+2 of CBSE or nay other Board in Ophthalmic Techniques (as a Vocational Course) are also eligible. They would be given preference in admission, if otherwise found suitable.
Selection The candidates will be required to attend interview at their own expense.
Session Applications will be invited in the month of August/September each year.
Course duration 3 Years divided into four semesters and one year of compulsory practical and clinical training(apprenticeship)
Stipend Monthly stipend are paid to the candidates.
Leave Rules Students will be allowed two weeks leave or vacation at the end of each semester according to leave roster prepated by the Institution concerned.

  • Aim of the programme: To produce a cadre efficient and highly skilled optometrist with sound theoretical and practical knowledge.

With the programme of FOREC (Federation of Ophthamic Reserach & Education Centre) co-ordinating training at nearly 50 institutions in the country the programme is now seated to become a degree course (B.Sc., Ophthalmic Tehnique), in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). The Para Medical training, which is of such vital importance to our work and to the progress of ophthalmology in the country, is likely to take a revolutionary qualitative quantum leap. The course has been deliberately named as B.Sc.(Optometry) ophthalmic Techinques as the purpose is to produce a multidimentional worker to meet the needs of community and ophthalmic fraternity.
