Dastar Ceremony of Chairman Bhai Devinder Singh Khannewale (the successor of Bhai Sahib Bhai Jasbir Singh Khalsa Khannewale) on the occasion of Bhog ceremony organized to pay homage to Bhai Jasbir Singh Khannewale after his death on Aug. 14, 2006, by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President, Jathedar Avtar Singh in presence of Jathedars of Holy Takhat Sahib.
Born on Dec 10, 1955 to father S. Beant Singh and mother Mata Charanjit Kaur, (Bhai) Devinder Singh, right from his childhood days, recognized an in-born quality in him to serve people around. Supported by religious thoughts and lust to serve humanity, he learnt Kirtan and strarted reciting Gurbani from his childhood days.
A sweet spoken and attentive listener, Bhai Sahib (now called as "Veer Ji' with respect) completed his studies of graduation with English, Political Science and Punjabi while studying in Khanna-his native place. Hailing from a Gursikh family, all through his life he has drawn inspiration from Sikh teachings.
He understands that honest work creates healthy institution and community life. He views, "Sharing with others, caring for the poor and needy, standing for freedom and justice, being grateful to God and working together in community for the good of all are the things that bring health, peace and prosperity." |
